The River of Souls runs thick with the spirits of many fallen creatures that have perished over the eons. These lost souls crave the warmth of the earth, but sadly, were never able to be laid to rest on the land. Instead, their bodies were swept away by the river, forever confining their spirits to the endless, icy waters. Stories tell of the white shadows of the dead that rise under the full moon, staring with cold, empty eyes into the dark forest, but never leaving the borders of the riverbank...

My half of a trade with . The request was to do something similar to my "White Forest" pic that I made a while back. I got into playing with the blue and white theme...and I really like the result! I actually got the concept for the story a few months back. I drive by a small man-made lake on my way to and from work. At night on my way home, the lake reflects the moonlight very well...and it's really creepy! I started imagining the dead rising from the water's surface...and that's how I got the idea.
